Here are the top 5 phones made by LG for Tracfone prepaid cell phone service. Each phone offers certain features and benefits the others may not be able to offer, so it is important to analyze which phone may be right for you.

These are only the top 5 LG brand phones, for those who like the LG brand and want to narrow their search to one brand. If you prefer other brands of cell phone, you may find our useful.
Cell Phone Reviews page

LG is a very popular electronics company that makes everything from TV's to refrigerators. They make some of the most cutting edge smartphones as well.

But the LG cell phones offered through Tracfone are not the newest or most recently released. They tend to be older models that have proven themselves with good value, durability and low cost.

LG products are great, and the same is true for their mobile devices from Tracfone, so let's get straight to the top 5 LG phones from Tracfone.

The Top 5 Best LG Brand Cell Phones Available at Tracfone

Starting with #5:

#5 - LG 440G
best LG cell phone tracfone
LG 440G
The LG 440G is a flip phone loaded with more features than one would expect for this compact phone.

It comes with fast mobile web, courtesy of 3G connectivity speeds. It also has a decent 1.3 MP camera, hands free speaker, voice dialing and all the other features normally included with a Tracfone. The only downside to this impressive little phone is that it only comes with Double Minutes for Life instead of the better Triple Minutes for Life that most newer Tracfone's now have.

Overall, this LG phone is small, convenient and has great value as a backup phone, or for other uses. You can read TracfoneReivewer's full LG 440G Review to learn more, including how to find it for less than retail price.

#4 - LG 530G
top 3 lg tracfone cell phones
LG 530G
This LG phone is a fine upgrade from other, older phones, including the LG 500G, which it is similar too. The LG 530G is a candy bar style phone (meaning no flipping or sliding parts), with a full QWERTY keyboard.

This phone is great for texting, in fact, it is one of de9w2dsl's top picks in our Best Tracfone Cell Phones for Texting post a few weeks back. The QWERTY keyboard makes texting quick and convenient, even for those unfamiliar with this style keyboard. If you haven't tried texting with a phone like this, it is well worth a try.

Other impressive features the LG 530 comes with include MP3 player, 1.3 MP camera, and best of all, Triple Minutes for Life. (which triples every minute added to the phone - a great value)

Overall, the LG 530G is a great LG brand cell phone offered by Tracfone and works well as an everyday phone. Triple Minutes for Life and easy texting makes it one of the best cell phones offered by Tracfone.

You can read our Review of the LG 530G to see the full feature list, and find our likes and dislikes for the phone.

#3 - LG 840G
lg 840G best tracfone cell phone
White LG 840G
Our #3 pick for best LG Tracfone is the 840G. It has modern features, and provides great value and functionality to consumers. It comes with Triple Minutes for Life, which means that every minute you add is tripled!

Three features that really stand out on the LG 840G are Touchscreen, MP3 player with 2GB MicroSD card included, and WiFi connectivity.

The LG 840G is one of only a handful of Tracfone Cell Phones with WiFi. WiFi connectivity allows you to connect to the internet for free and surf the web without using prepaid minutes. Needless to say, WiFi is a huge feature.

The touchscreen on the LG 840G is good, better than the touchscreen on the older, LG 800G. It may take some getting used to, but functions well and helps make this phone look like it is part of the modern smartphones, even if it isn't quite there yet.

Overall, the LG 840G is a stylish, feature rich phone that is the most modern offering from Tracfone. You can read our entire Review of the LG 840G to see all the features, and where to find it for less than the $50 retail price.

#2 - LG Optimus Dynamic
best LG phones from tracfone
LG Optimus Dynamic
The runner up in our list of top LG phones is the LG Optimus Dynamic. This phone is a true smartphone, running Android 2.3 and comes with a lot of features besides the ability to access thousands of apps in the Google Play store.

The touchscreen is 3.2", about the same as the LG 840G. The Dynamic also has WiFi, and Triple Minutes for Life.

It has a convenient size for those who don't want a large phone, and you can easily surf the web, browse YouTube, or play games on the phone. The storage space on the Optimus Dynamic isn't great, however, so you won't be able to load a large number of apps. But there are ways to move apps to the included SD card which helps increase the space.

Check out our full review of the LG Optimus Dynamic to learn more about the features. You can also take a look at the price on Amazon, which last check put it at under $20!

#1 - LG Optimus Dynamic II
top 5 lg tracfone devices
LG Optimus Dynamic II
As you can probably guess, the LG Optimus Dynamic II is a newer and better upgrade to the LG Optimus Dynamic. The Dynamic II has a larger 3.8" screen, WiFi, and more internal memory for storing things.

The LG Optimus Dynamic II runs Android 4.1 which is a newer version of Android OS. It also has a 3MP camera and lots of other great features.

The Dynamic II is one of the best Smartphones available from Tracfone at this time, but you should take a look at our List of Android Smartphones to see some of the options coming in the future, including the LG Optimus Fuel.

For more features and info, read our Review of the LG Optimus Dynamic II. It is currently selling for under $100 on Amazon and other places.

6 Major Differences between Tracfone Android and Non-Android Devices

Comparing Android vs Non-Android Devices from Tracfone

Should you buy a new Android smartphone from Tracfone? Is it worth upgrading to these powerful devices that have recently become available to use with Tracfone prepaid service? We want to answer questions like these with this guide to understanding Android including 6 important differences to other Tracfone prepaid phones.

Let's start with a basic but important question:

What is an Android Phone?

android tracfone
Tracfone Android vs Non-Android
Any phone that uses the Android Operating System is considered an Android device. Basically, it is a standardized operating system for phones, like Windows OS for PC's.

Android allows users to have access to hundreds of thousands of different applications through the Google Play store and other locations. These apps provide added functionality, and many are free to download and use. There are apps for nearly anything you can think of, ranging from music and radio streaming, to games and entertainment.

For more about Android OS, here is a link to the Wikipedia page on Android.

Now, we want to mention here that there are three categories of phones form Tracfone at this time:

Three Types of Phones for Tracfone:
  • Android - Cell Phones that use Android OS
  • Non-Android - All other phones from Tracfone (visit our Cell Phone Reviews page to see them)
  • BYOP Phones - A new program from Tracfone that allows you to 'Bring Your Own Phone'. (follow the link to learn more about this program) including iPhone and Android devices
So there are a few different types of phones to choose from, but we won't get into that. We will focus just on Android smartphones, and comparing the difference between them and all other phones offered by Tracfone.

So let's get to the main question, how are Android smartphones different from other Tracfone devices?

6 Key Differences Comparing Android vs Non-Android Devices from Tracfone

A list comparing the major differences between phones with Android operating system, and all the rest that are available from Tracfone. Use this list to help choose whether an Android phone may be right for you.

tracfone android
Find Apps for Android
1. Access Thousands of Applications with Android Smartphones
Androids are called smartphones because of their increased functionality with access to standardized applications (apps). These apps can do many of the same things that computers programs do, including web browsing, photo editing, games and much much more.

Apps for Android phones are available from the Google Play Store and many are free or just a few dollars. There are over a million applications and they do quite a number of different things.

Access to applications gives Android phones almost unlimited functionality because you can always download and install a new app to do something you couldn't do before. Non-Android devices from Tracfone are usually limited to the features that come with the phone, like an alarm clock, web browser, etc.

Visit the Google Play Store to see some of the apps available to use with Android.

2. Minutes are Split into Three 'buckets' for Android Phones
One of the major differences between Tracfone's Android devices and their non-Android phones is the way minutes work.

android tracfone
Use the same prepaid card for Androids
On the non-Android phones (such as the LG 840G or LG 306G), when you add a 60 minute card, you get 60 minutes (or 180 if you have Triple Minutes for Life) for talking, texting and web browsing all in one 'bucket'. Also, texts cost only 0.3 minutes each.

For Android smartphones (like the ZTE Valet or LG Optimus Dynamic II), a 60 minute card will be split into three 'buckets' and give you 60 minutes calling, 60 texts, and 60mb data (and these will all be tripled to 180 with Triple Minutes for Life). So you get the same number of calling minutes (180), plus texting and data (180 of each)!

However, if you use texting almost exclusively, this may not be a great deal because you would only have 180 texts on the Android versus a total of 600 for the non android (180 minutes divided by 0.3 per text). But there are apps available on Android that text for free - like TextPlus or several others.

So prepaid minutes work a little differently, but for most, this is very beneficial.

3. Touchscreens on All Tracfone Android Smartphones
Not everyone likes to use a touchscreen, but all of the Android powered phones from Tracfone have touchscreens at this time.

Most smartphones these days only have a touchscreen, it is very common. But if you prefer the feel of buttons under your fingers, then you might want to stick with Tracfone's like the Samsung S390G or Motorola EX431G which both have full QWERTY keypads.

Additionally, you can visit our Tracfone BYOP page to learn about how you can bring a smartphone to use with Tracfone, including some phones with sliding keyboards. Visit the BYOP page for a phone list and all the details.

4. Android Phones are (generally) Newer
Most of the newest phones from Tracfone are all Android devices. And while Tracfone's current Android smartphone selection has mostly phones that are a few years old, their non-Android phone selection includes phones from 5-10 years ago.

If you're looking for a newest phones from Tracfone, Android is where you should look. There are a couple of new smartphones we are excited about which are the Samsung Galaxy Ace Style and LG Optimus Fuel.

5. Android Phones are (generally) More Expensive
Because the Android phones from Tracfone are newer and have more features, they also tend to be more expensive. Typically the phones will be priced above $100. There are a variety of online stores that offer some great deals, including deals with minutes. So shop around when searching for a phone.

But not all of the Android smartphones are expensive, you can even get the LG Optimus Dynamic for $20 on Amazon right now.

6. No Tracfone Promo Codes for Android
The last, and probably most disappointing difference between Android and other Tracfone cell phones is that the Android phones won't accept promo codes which you might be accustomed to using with other prepaid phones.

For a long time, Tracfone has provided special promotional codes which customers can use when buying new prepaid minutes to get extra minutes for free. This is a great deal, and you can get as many as 250 free minutes.

But these promo codes are not available for Tracfone Android Smartphones, which is too bad.

Bonus Point! You are Charged for Every Text You Receive on Android Phones
Thanks to David for mentioning this in the comments - On the Android phones you cannot choose which incoming texts you read (and are charged for). You are automatically charged for every incoming text, whether you read it or not.

On non-Android Tracfones you can choose not to read a text, and thus not be charged for it. So be aware of this, and if you receive a lot of spam texts, you may want to change your number when changing to an Android phone from Tracfone.

This concludes the list of key differences between Android smartphones and the regular cell phones offered by Tracfone. We hope these points will help you choose if an Android phone is best for you. If you have any questions, or additional points to add, leave a comment below!

Complete android tracfone list
Compare Android Tracfone Devices!
Tracfone is now fully embracing Android smartphone devices and sells a variety of different phones. Each of the phones have different features, pro's and con's, that can be hard to evaluate fully.

de9w2dsl is here to help with this list of Android devices that includes a quick comparison of each phone, and links to our full reviews.

We wanted to create a resource for consumers who were looking at buying an Android phone from Tracfone and provide a clear list of the phones, with comparison details. This list is for your convenience, and we hope that it will make for an easier decision.

Let's start with a basic but important question:

What are Android phones and how are they different from other Tracfone devices? Well. this is a question we have answered with a full article which you can read by following the link above . This is an important question to understand, and you should decide before proceeding further, if an Android phone is what you need.

The basic answer to the question is that an Android device is a phone that uses a common operating system, called Android, which allows users to have access to thousands of applications on Google Play.

Android phones are usually refereed to as smartphones, or Android smartphones, because of their increased functionality. They almost all have large touchscreens, and can do many things you would normally only be able to do on a computer such as browsing the web, checking email, surfing social media, and getting GPS directions.

Well, let's get to the list of Android devices offered by Tracfone.

List of Tracfone Android Smartphones with Specs and Comparison

We will include every Android device from Tracfone in this list, with information about each phone that you can compare to the others to choose the best one to fit your needs.

For Tracfone Users in need of a large touchscreen phone, the Alcatel Onetouch ICON Pop fits that need. With such a large screen, video on the phone has been reported as slightly choppy at times.

Browsing the web anonymously.

Happy Monday!  Today's blog covers how to stay safe (or at least as best possible), while surfing the web!
Web browsing can be a very scary thing.  Websites track your surfing session.  Social networks, search engines, your Internet provider, even the government may be tracking you online as well!  They may be collecting what they consider valuable marketing data, or trying to prevent potentially dangerous criminal activity, regardless, what you do online, in the so called privacy and comforts of your home, sadly folks, is anything but private!
Thankfully, The MacMentor is always looking out for his people!  Below, are some tips I've gathered to help your browsing be done anonymously.
That said, there are a few ways to spend time online anonymously. The following are a few suggestions.

How to Tweak your browser...
Do you ever wonder about the ads you get on your Facebook page, or other sites you visit?  How they are seemingly tailored just for you?  Well, THEY ARE!  To help avoid site knowing "who you are", or better, who your computer is, one thing you can do is use anonymous proxy software.  I know what you are saying, "English, please Mr. MacMentor!"  Ok, anonymous proxy software is a great way to mask, or hide your IP address online.  However, even using this type of software, there is still plenty of information about your Web-surfing habits stored on your computer — which could also be viewed over a network, say, at the office, by your IT department (that's right folks).
Thankfully, its very easy to manage your privacy settings right in your Web browser, unless the company you work for does not give you admin privileges, which you need to make changes to your browsers settings.
A great thing to do is to disable the cookies in your browser.  A browser cookie is a tiny text file that gets stored on your computer.  It has information about where you've been online, your passwords, and other information as well.  You should also delete your browser history to make certain to cover your tracks!  Every major browser, from IE, Chrome, Safari or Firefox allows you to delete your browsing history.  All you need to do is go into the Options or Settings on your favorite browser and you'll see how this is done.  In Safari, Apple makes it very easy.  Click the History Menu option and you'll see a menu like the one below pop up.

You'll click the Clear history option (last item you'll see on the pop-up menu),                then a window will appear like the one below.

From there, click the Clear button (highlighted in blue) and you'll clean out your browsers history.
Another tip...Turn off Auto-complete functionality on your browser.  If Auto-complete is turned on, someone could jump on your computer, type in a few letters of a Web Address (URL) bar, or in a search engine and any recent places you've visited could be automatically filled in!  Didn't I tell you it could be scary out there!  And NEVER click "Remember my password" for any private or financial institutions.  Doing so could grant a hacker access to your most precious information.
Ok, now that I've thoroughly scared the C#$@ out of you, there is another, very easy thing you can do.  Most browsers allow for private surfing.  If you are a Safari user, click on the Safari menu option, and choose Private Browsing.  Enabling this feature will stop your browser from saving any history, search queries, cookies or passwords.
Ok, now let's discuss search engines.  You could simply choose not to save your browsing history.  For example, Google, recently was ordered to make this easier for users in Europe.  You might also consider not logging into your Google account when you are using these services, or you may choose to install a free browser plug-in that tells Google and other advertisers to simply back-off.
Finally and sadly, you may (or may not) have heard that Facebook is going to start sharing Web-browsing history it collects with advertisers to display more targeted ads — yes, even on non-Facebook sites you visit. Thankfully you can opt out of this within Facebook's Privacy settings.

SMART SOFTWARE
Speaking of Facebook, how on earth does Facebook know to show you ads for your local gym or supermarket? In part it's because your computer's unique Internet Protocol (IP) address, assigned by your Internet provider, which reveals your geographical location. Unfortunately, even if your computer generates a different IP address every time you boot up or log online, this number (e.g. 220.165.119.12) still tells your general location.
There are a slew of solutions that allow you to hide your Internet connection, allowing you to remain anonymous while online.
One solution si to use a free "online proxy servers" to conceal your identity. Simply point the Web address (URL) to the proxy server and surf right from its website (for help with this, check out proxy.org for a list of great options).
Or, you may wish to download Virtual Private Network (VPN) software that encrypts your browsing sessions.
The browser-independent Hotspot Shield from AnchorFree (anchor free.com), for example is available for Windows, Macs, iPhone and Android channels all Web activities through a personal VPN and secures Internet communications by turning all HTTP traffic into the safer HTTPS (which is what your bank uses for a safe connection). You can purchase an ad-supported free version and a beefier "elite" option ($29.95/year) with more bells and whistles.
Similarly, Tor is free software that protects you against Internet surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy. TOR is short for "The Onion Router" — which gets its name for its "layered" approach to the encryption process — TOR (torproject.org) provides online anonymity as the software routes Internet traffic through a worldwide volunteer network of servers to conceal your location as well as your online browsing patterns.
USB STICKS
Lastly, this blog will cover USB sticks.  In some cases, software to encrypt your connection is kept on a USB drive.  These can be fantastic when you  wish to remain safe and secure when using a public PC.
Check out the SurfEasy Private Browser ($69.99 one-time fee; surfeasy.com).  Its a tiny USB key that fits into a credit card-shaped case to be kept in your wallet. When you plug it into a PC or Mac it immediately launches its own password-protected browser and you're good to go (no proxy or network settings to configure).
Your browsing session is handled through SurfEasy's fast and secure private proxy network. Your IP address will be masked throughout your browsing session.
SurfEasy  also has a new downloadable product called SurfEasy VPN that can protect not only computers, but your iPhones, iPads and even Android devices as well!
Lastly, check out Tails (tails.boum.org), which can be downloaded and installed onto a USB stick to run independently of the computer's original operating system. Similar to SurfEasy, it allows you browse the Web anonymously, on virtually any computer as all connections are channeled through the earlier mentioned TOR network.
Didn't realize how unsafe your browsing was, did you?  Well I hope this post helps.  You may choose to do nothing, just be aware that you are being "followed" and "watched".  There are things you can do, and things I hope you do to help protect yourself.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me for assistance!
Have an awesome week, and until next time, best to you and your devices.  And Safe Browsing to you all!
